About the service
Are you a party hire company?
No. Party Products is an independent quote referral service. We pass your request to one local party hire business, which contacts you directly. Any booking is between you and that business.
Is it free?
Yes. Sending a request is free and there is no obligation to book. The hire business may pay us for the referral.
Do you cover my town?
We take requests from every state and territory and pass them to a hire business that delivers to the area. Tell us your suburb or town and state on the form.
What happens after I send a request?
We aim to pass your request to a local party hire business within one business day. The hire business then contacts you by phone or email to check the date and talk through what you need.
Will my details be sold?
No. We pass your request to one hire business, with your agreement, and never sell your details. See our privacy policy.
Planning and booking
How far ahead should I book?
As soon as you have a date. Saturdays in your city's dry season and the weeks before Christmas are the busiest times for hire stock and delivery crews.
What should I ask before I book?
What is included (delivery, set-up, pack-down), the delivery and pick-up times, the deposit and cancellation terms in writing, the bond and breakage charges and the wind and wet weather policy.
What if the weather turns?
Ask the hire business about its wet weather and wind policy before you book, and whether sidewalls or extra cover can be added at short notice.
What are my rights if something goes wrong?
Services you pay for come with rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and your state's consumer agency explains them; Consumer Affairs Victoria's guide to cancelling a contract for services is one example (Consumer Affairs Victoria).
Parks, noise and permits
Can I hold a party in a council park?
Usually, but many councils want a booking or permit before a marquee, jumping castle or large group, and some ban inflatables or glass. Our city guides link to council rules.
When does the music have to stop at a home party?
Each state sets its own residential noise rules. In Victoria, for example, EPA Victoria's prohibited times for stereos start at 10 pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and 11 pm on Friday, Saturday and public holidays, if the music can be heard inside a neighbour's home (EPA Victoria).
Does a big marquee need a permit?
Very large marquees fall under each state's building rules. In Victoria, marquees over 100 square metres are prescribed temporary structures, which can need an occupancy permit and council siting approval. Ask your council if yours is that large or the event is public.
