Cairns public spaces
The Esplanade parklands, Botanic Gardens, Sugarworld Parklands, beaches and parks can all be booked through Cairns Regional Council. Bookings open two years ahead and close two weeks out, and nothing is confirmed until payment and paperwork are in (Cairns Regional Council, read on a February 2026 archived copy).
Tropical seasons
Cairns Aero averages about 16 rain days in each of February and March and 4.9 in August (BoM). For an outdoor party, the dry months from June to September are the safest; in the wet, cover is essential.
