Everything for your event in one request

Tell us the date, your suburb or town and what you need. Free and no obligation to book.

  • One request, not a round of calls. List the marquee, the tables and chairs, the lighting and the glassware once. One request covers the lot.
  • Matched to your event. A backyard birthday, an engagement in a hall or a garden wedding, in a capital city or one of the larger regional cities.
  • No surprise charges. Know the bond, delivery, set-up and damage terms before you pay a deposit. The questions to ask are set out below.
  • Independent and free. Party Products is a referral service, not a hire company. Your request goes to one local hire business, which may pay us for the referral, and we never sell your details.

Hire for the party you are planning

Most hire requests start with a date and a guest list. A backyard birthday might need a gazebo, a few trestle tables and a jumping castle. An engagement party in a hall might need cocktail furniture, glassware and festoon lights. A garden wedding might need all of it, plus heaters for when the sun goes down. Tell us what you have in mind and the hire business will suggest the rest.

No surprise charges: ask before you book

Ask the hire business these before you pay a deposit: the bond, delivery, set-up and damage first. Get the answers in writing.

  • What is included

Delivery, set-up, pack-down and collection, and any extra for stairs or distance.

  • Bond and breakages

How damage and breakages are counted and when a bond comes back.

  • Deposit and cancellation

How much up front, when the balance is due and the cancellation terms, in writing.

  • Delivery and pick-up times

The windows for drop-off and collection, and whether you need to be home.

  • Your ground surface

Pegs for grass or weights for concrete, pavers, decking and many council parks.

  • Power

How many outlets the lights, heaters and blowers need, and who brings tagged leads.

  • Wind and wet weather

The wind speed they stop at and what happens to your booking.

  • Supervision of inflatables

Who watches a jumping castle while it is in use, and their training records.

  • Recent reviews

Ask for recent reviews from customers in your city and read them.

When it rains, city by city

Australia's capitals do not share a wet season. Perth and Adelaide are wettest in winter and almost dry in February; Darwin is the opposite, with 19 rain days in January and almost none in July; Sydney and Brisbane get their most rain days in March. The averages below come from the Bureau of Meteorology's climate statistics for each city's main station (BoM climate averages).

Parks, permits and noise

A party in a public park is where the rules start, and every council writes its own. The City of Sydney needs no booking for a small gathering with nothing brought in; Brisbane City Council needs permission for a jumping castle; Central Coast Council does not allow inflatables on its land at all. Our city guides link to each council's page. Noise rules for a party at home are set by each state, so check yours before the music runs late.

Questions and answers

Are you a party hire company?

No. Party Products is an independent quote referral service. We pass your request to one local party hire business, which contacts you directly about availability and a quote. We do not own or deliver any hire equipment, so any booking is between you and the hire business.

Which places do you cover?

Every capital city and the larger regional cities, from Cairns to Launceston. Tell us your suburb or town and state, and we pass the request to a hire business that delivers there.

Does it cost anything?

No. Sending a request is free and you are under no obligation to book. We may be paid by the hire business for the referral.

How far ahead should I book?

As early as you can once you have a date, especially for a Saturday in your city's dry season and for the weeks before Christmas, when hire stock and delivery crews are busiest.

What details help the hire business quote?

The date and times, your suburb or town, the venue, roughly how many guests, whether the event is indoors or outdoors, the ground surface and the items on your list.
