Party Hire in Ballina

Ballina, Lennox Head and Alstonville share one shire council, and Ballina Shire Council sets the rules for events on its parks and reserves.

What to know about Ballina

Marquees on public land

A marquee or a reception on a Ballina Shire park or reserve calls for an Events on Public Land application. The council says approval is unlikely on its beaches, headlands and coastal reserves (Ballina Shire Council), so plan the marquee for a park or a private garden instead of the sand.

Leave the balloons at home

The shire's event guidelines rule out the use, supply or release of balloons at any event held wholly or partly outside. If an amusement ride or device is on the list, the council may also need a separate Section 68 application (event guidelines). Bunting and festoon lights give the colour without the ban.

Three months is the ideal

Ballina Shire Council would like event applications for public land at least three months out, and at least four weeks for a minor event (event approvals). Confirm the hire once the council has said yes.

Under a roof in Ballina

The council's Richmond Room on Regatta Avenue holds up to 250 theatre style or 150 cabaret style and has a commercial kitchen (Richmond Room).
